We are gearing up for a very exciting period in our long history and currently have an opening for an Associate Program Director of Healthcare at our Portland Campus. As a member of the academic affairs department, this position works in conjunction with the Program Director of Healthcare and is responsible for the overall quality of teaching and learning, including curriculum, faculty, and students within the program. In close collaboration with campus leadership and faculty, the Associate Program Director serves as part of a campus team-wide effort to continuously improve student retention and student leaning outcomes (SLOs). The key responsibilities of this role include: Recruit, screen, hire, supervise, train, develop, observe, mentor, coach, and evaluate healthcare faculty as needed to maintain the overall quality and integrity of teaching and learning within the program. Actively participate in the college’s student retention management program and achieve annual campus quarterly retention targets for the healthcare program. Assist in planning and implementing student activities, including Student Orientation and Graduation. Provide input for the quarterly Master Schedule including identifying course offerings and scheduling students for appropriate classes as needed to maintain an effective and efficient course schedule that keeps student on track for graduation and falls within budgeting guidelines. Implement the Heald plan for the assessment of student learning outcomes and support services including participation in systematic program review. Assign faculty to courses, staff classes with current instructors, and provide substitutes when necessary. Conducts all Healthcare education faculty observations and evaluations. Work with students for any requested schedule changes prior to add/drop period of quarter. Develop a positive classroom learning environment to insure high rates of student success. Provide regularly scheduled academic advising to students within the program. Participate in curriculum design and development activities including actively working with CAO and the other campus faulty and program directors as needed to maintain the overall quality and integrity of the curriculum for the program. Implement new or revised curriculum on campus including text book selection and selection of equipment and supplies. Ensure program-level compliance with all internal academic policies and procedures and all applicable accrediting standards, state licensing requirements, FERPA, and all other applicable external rules and regulations. Recruit participants and actively participate in employer advisory committees and other activities designed to solicit input into curriculum and build relationships with the employers and potential employers or Heald graduates. Respond to industry needs within campus’s region with community involvement and the development and management of student internships. Insure LES is administered quarterly, provide all survey results to faculty, and assist faculty in improving teaching and student learning outcomes. Assist Program Director for Healthcare with development of annual program budget and operating within budget guidelines. Identify and develop externship sites and extern agreements. Monitor and supervise externship activities and ensure compliance with extern site agreements. All Program Directors have teaching responsibilities, with teaching load determined by the numbers of active students in their designated discipline. To successfully fulfill this function, the following is required: Faculty assigned to teach general education courses must meet at least one of the following requirements:  A Master’s Degree in a subject area that supports the curriculum content; or  A Master’s Degree and at least 15 graduate or undergraduate academic (not applied) semester units (credits) or 22.5 or more quarter units  (credits) in a subject area that supports the curriculum content Instructors teaching courses other than general education must hold bachelor’s degrees at a minimum and are assigned based on their major and minor academic preparation and/or related experience. Faculty assigned to teach courses other than general education courses must meet at least one of the following requirements:  earned baccalaureate degree in a subject area that supports the curriculum content and the appropriate certification or license as noted in the Heald Faculty Qualifications Policy and accompanying Certification and Licensing Table (if required); or an earned baccalaureate degree and the appropriate certification or license as noted in the Heald Certification and Licensing Table (if required)and demonstrable current exceptional professional level experience in the assigned field. Details: Healthcare – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Manager – Nurse Manager – NICU Providence Holy Cross is currently hiring for a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Nurse Manager that will oversee their brand new patient care wing and latest addition to the Hospital.  Providence Holy Cross provides high quality specialty services and has won several prestigious awards including the Magnet designation for excellence in nursing services.  The new patient care wing will provide 138 new patient beds, a new Women’s Pavilion, and a 12 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  About the Department:The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the NICU, is an intensive care unit created for premature and high-risk newborns who need specialized treatment.  The NICU has equipment designed for infants and a hospital staff who have special training in newborn care.  Babies who need to be in a NICU are often admitted within the first 24 hours after birth.  At Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, our specialized staff is ready to take premature and sick babies into our current special care nursery (SCN). This special care nursery provides care for infants with less severe medical problems.  The new unit is scheduled to open in late 2010.
